What’s Central? Moving Toward the Bull’s-Eye in our Writing Centers
Proposal Deadline: February 17, 2009
At Central Washington University, we will gather centrifugally and centripetally—from the center out and the outside in—between mountains and dry plains, dams and wind farms, pine trees and fruit orchards, to examine the collaborative forces that push and pull us.

We are happy to report that Shanti Bruce has enthusiastically agreed to be our Keynote Speaker.
Our conference theme is “Are We Having Fun Yet? Cultivating Daily Joy in our Writing Centers”
We invite you to submit proposals for interactive sessions that explore and invent ways to keep our work fun. Feel free to consider our purpose -- on each campus and as a discipline -- our support for ourselves and the writers we work with, and the daily choices that empower ourselves and all writers on campus to take risks and experience joy.
February 29 is the deadline to submit your one-page abstract and the PNWCA Session Proposal Form via e-mail to Program Chair Teresa Joy Kramer, 509.963.1299, kramert@cwu.edu

You may know that several Washington state community colleges created an online writing lab (OWL) to pilot last spring, and that the site is now being hosted by WAOL for continued use by the pilot project colleges. Check it out at: http://owl.waol.org
The writing center people involved (Grace Rhodes, Ann Harrington, Sally Nick and Linda Foss)all reported positive experiences with the project and a desire to continue building the site with additional member colleges coming on board. We are currently seeking phase II funding from the state's Distance Learning Council.
